Fostering saves lives.
We are a Foster Based Rescue. Without foster homes, we cannot save dogs.
Dogs die every day in shelters and on the streets. It’s time to step up and save them.
Foster families are needed in both the Houston, TX and Rochester, NY areas.
The first job of a foster is to provide love. Our puppies and dogs come from situations they did not choose to be in. We ask that all of our fosters provide an indoor environment, food, toys, bedding and other basic daily needs. Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue will provide heart-worm and flea preventatives, vaccinations and any other medical needs at our approved veterinarians. Fosters will work with the rescue's case managers to ensure they have what they need. (If providing resources for the foster animal(s) in your home presents a challenge, please do not allow this to prevent you from applying to foster - just let us know you need food or other supplies, and we will absolutely work with you!)
Many of our dogs are adopted to the Northeast but we do adopt many in Texas as well. It would be the responsibility of the foster to bring the puppies or dogs to the transport drop-off location, local adoption events and/or meet & greets with potential adopters. If the foster is unable to do so, we ask they arrange for someone to do so on their behalf or reach out to us for extra assistance. We utilize Facebook, Instagram, and Petfinder as our main avenues for posting adoptable dogs.
The foster care commitment can vary depending on the age and health of the puppies or dogs when they enter the rescue. The minimum commitment is two weeks. This is to ensure all dogs have been vetted, are healthy enough, and have received the necessary vaccinations for adoption. All pups will have a minimum of two rounds of vaccines and be at least 8 weeks of age before adopted.
Being a foster is a commitment but is so incredibly rewarding! Sometimes it takes a little longer to find the best match for our rescues. We provide support along the way to ensure your foster dog has the best possible chance for adoption. Please be sure your resident dogs are up to date on all vaccines prior to applying. This is to ensure their protection as well as our rescues.
You must be 21 or older in order to foster for us.
